Philosophy And VisionOur vision is to be the leading brand of lasers and ultrasound used by ophthalmologists to fight blindness. Since the introduction of our first ophthalmic laser in 1985, Ellex has been building a knowledge base and reputation for excellence in lasers and ophthalmology. Today our products are used by ophthalmologists around the world to treat and diagnose patients with cataract, glaucoma and retina conditions, and we continue to invest ten percent of our revenue in research and development in order to surpass the expectations of ophthalmologists for high precision and reliability. With engineering and manufacturing in Adelaide Australia, an optics and laser technology center, Ellex has evolved into a global company with sales and customer service offices in Japan, the United States and Europe. Our business has developed from OEM supply of some of the largest companies in ophthalmology, to reliance on our own branded products and sales to customers through our direct subsidiaries in the United States and Japan, and through our network of over 40 distributors. Today, lasers are a standard tool used by ophthalmologists to treat various ophthalmic conditions that can lead to blindness. Ophthalmologists expect precision, reliability, and consistent performance. Ellex is the only company dedicated solely to lasers in ophthalmology, and our focus is not distracted by the short term opportunities outside of our core business. We believe excellent lasers are the product of a knowledge base that develops from focus over time. Our vision is to be recognized by ophthalmologists as the global leader in lasers and laser therapies used to treat patients with sight threatening conditions. Every company grows through innovation, and our research and development program includes funding to explore new ways to fight blindness with laser technology. Selective Laser Trabeculoplasty (SLT) for glaucoma is an example of a new non-invasive laser therapy where we are leading the way to advance the treatment of open angle glaucoma, one of the leading causes of blindness in the developed world. In the coming years we expect to introduce more products to meet today's needs, as well as engage in research aimed at finding future treatments for the common causes of blindness. |
